Needlework
I see the time-consuming construction of my work as meditative. It can also be stressful, contemplative, and painstaking. To make my needlework, I draw or trace a design onto Bristol board, a thick, archival paper. I use a needle to punch holes into the board. This allows the embroidery needle to pass through the board more easily. This labor-intensive process limits my production. The physical presence of the stitching is, like the process of mourning, marking time.
